Newbauer Finishes Top Five at Clarke Invite

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Bowling team competed at the Clarke University (Iowa) Invitational, held at Cherry Lanes, this past weekend. The V-Hawks finished fourth out of eight teams with a total of 6493 pins, with 3914 coming from team scoring, and 2579 in the baker games.

Ottawa University (Kans.) took first place with 7608 pins, 4689 team and 2919 baker, and produced the top two individual finishers out of 49 bowlers, Gabriella Hernandez and Allie Williams.

Emily Newbauer led the V-Hawks with a fourth place finish, averaging 185.4 pins over five games (927 total).

Holly Santucci and Courtney Keller took 17th and 20th place with totals of 825 (165 average) and 775 (155 average) over their five games, respectively. Madelyn Schwartz narrowly beat out teammate Kendell Sheldon for 32nd place by two pins over four games. Schwartz knocked 555 pins (138.75 average), while Sheldon scored 553 (138.25 average). Heidi Kloostra was the final V-Hawk competitor, with 279 pins over her two games, taking 46th.

The V-Hawks return to action January 27-28 at the GLBC Conference Meet 3.
