V-Hawks Start Season at GLBC Meet 1

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Bowling Team competed in their first tournament of their 2023-24 season at AMF Lanes in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. The women finished 4th out of 8 teams at the Great Lakes Bowling Conference Meet with a total pinfall of 6,797, a team average of 165.78.

On Saturday, Freshman Emily Newbauer led the women shooting 934 for a total of 5 games with an average of 186.80, and a high game of 215. Emily placed 5th on the All-American team. Trailing Emily was Junior, Holly Santucci, shooting an 885 for five games with a 177 average, and a high game of 208.

Maddie Schwartz was right behind her teammate and bowled an 830 averaging 166 in 5 games, finding herself in 20th. Kendell Sheldon and Courtney tied for a 705 series over 5 games ending in 34th and 35th place.

The tournament continued into Sunday where the women continued bowling to add on to their already bowled 4,059 pins. The women added another 2,738 pins on Sunday adding to a total of 6,797 pins for the weekend, which was fourth best in the competition. The team had 5 wins and 4 losses for the weekend.

The V-Hawks will travel to Eau Claire, Wis. On Saturday, October 20th, and Sunday, October 21st for the University of Wisconsin Stout Open.
