V-Hawks Triumph on Senior Night

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball Came out on top on Wednesday evening 94-52 against Judson University on Senior Night. The V-Hawks rise to 15-12 (CCAC 8-11) while the Eagles sink to 6-21 (CCAC 3-16).

Viterbo starting strong, with Madison Hugdahl scoring the first layup for the V-Hawks, followed by Emily McCurdy hitting the three producing an early lead. Carley Drew and Lauryn Goettl adding to the momentum, extending the lead, while on defense the V-Hawks forcing multiple turnovers, turning for fast break points.

Nora Tucker hit back to back threes, Marley Hughes and Drew pushing the pace with quick ball movement. Though the Eagles tried to respond VU kept an aggressive defense above the half.

The V-Hawks continuing to convert fast breaks would push McCurdy and Johnson under the hoop. Goettl a force on both sides of the ball would hit a three before quickly forcing the steal for the layup.

Johnson scoring the final layup for the senior squad would pass the torch with Zuzanna Pacak taking the layup and a three. Shayna Williamson hitting the three late in the quarter would tip the V-Hawks over 90 before the clock ran out.

McCurdy and Johnson led with 13 and 12 points, Stellner dished four assists. Allyssa Potter led the Eagles with 19.   

The V-Hawks outshot the Eagles from the floor 46.7% to 31.1% and three 35.3% to 19.2%.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday February 22 at Saint Xavier for the last game of the regular season.
