JOLIET, Ill. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team fell to St. Francis (IL) on Saturday afternoon 89-65. The V-Hawks fall to 10-6 (CCAC 3-5) while the Fighting Saints rise to 13-3 (CCAC 6-2).
Olivia Lambrigtsen would hit back to back layups from Macy Stellner, though the V-Hawks would trail behind the Fighting Saints. With a game plan after a timeout freshman, Aubrey Dorn would capitalize in the lane for the layup before ending the first quarter.
Viterbo, looking to end a nine point scoring drought would look to Stellner to make the layup for the and one, before Kira John would find her opening in the lane for a layup of her own.
To open the second half Lambrigtsen would score after a foul by SFU. Charging in the lane again Stellner would claim another and one, before Nora Tucker would make back to back jumpers, clawing back from the 20 point deficit.
Lambrigtsen draining a three to open the final 10 minutes, opened the floor for other V-Hawks to work to for a series of buckets. With under two minutes remaining, Carly Drew would work her magic from outside the arc making two threes and a layup before the clock ran out.
Lambrigtsen led the V-Hawks from the floor with 13 points. Tykara Harrison led the Fighting Saints with 26.
The V-Hawks were outshot from the floor 52.3% to 38.3% and were outrebounded 37-35.
The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday, January 15, to host Indiana Northwest.
