Viterbo Outscores Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team outscored Trinity Christian College on Saturday afternoon 83-47. The V-Hawks rise to 10-3 (CCAC 3-2) while the Trolls fall to 0-12 (CCAC 0-6).

Emily McCurdy scored the opening three for the V-Hawks followed by a layup shortly after before Pearla Teko-Folly would score back to back layups. The V-Hawks keeping up the pressure would find Carly Drew strong on the assist finding Teko-Folly and Lauryn Goettl, and scoring the buzzer beater in the first quarter.

The V-Hawks on pursuit found Teko-Folly useful in the paint with four of the quarters first six points. On a forced turnover Drew would gain control of the ball before completing the fast break with a layup.

McCurdy with a déjà vu start would drain a three early in the third quarter, Marley Hughes finding the basket on five of the next seven V-Hawk buckets. The V-Hawks up 50-28, Goettl would take to the line making three for four less than 30 seconds apart. Hughes finding Madison Hugdahl for three layups to conclude the third.

Coming down to the end of the matchup Goettl would take down back to back layups. Freshmen Gabby Fors and Kira John would end the game on a series of shots and assists from John on the defensive rebound side.

Goettl led the V-Hawks from the floor with 15 points and three steals.  Bibi Merado led the Trolls with 11.

The V-Hawks outshot the Trolls from the floor 40.3% to 32.7% and from three 25.0% to 12.5% while also outrebounding 48-40 and committing less turnovers 13-21.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday, December 28, for an exhibition at Northern Illinois University.
