Lambrigtsen’s Hot Shooting Not Enough

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team dropped home conference opener against Governors State University Tuesday Evening 69-64. The V-Hawks fall to 6-2 (1-1 CCAC) while the Jaguars rise to 6-1 (2-0 CCAC).

Coming out early in the first quarter Nicole Johnson would score a layup with McCurdy and Hughes not far behind. Th Jaguars holding the V-Hawks to eight until Nora Tucker found Johnson before the buzzer.

The V-Hawks looking to close the gap in the lead would score a series of jump shots before Olivia Lambrigtsen would drain back to back threes both from Macy Stellner, followed by another layup.

Emily McCurdy opened the second half with four of the opening six points by the V-Hawks. Only down by eight points Tucker would score on a three from Hughes before Lambrigtsen would draw to sets of fouls taking to the free throw line.

Stellner, finding a window of opportunity would score two layups quickly, Lambrigtsen finding the sweet spot to drain another three bringing the deficit to one point. With less than a minute remaining, the V-Hawks would commit two fouls, allowing the Jaguars to claim the win.

Lambrigtsen led the V-Hawks with 17 points and McCurdy had 10 points. Da'Naria Washington led the Jaguars with 18.

The V-Hawks outshot from the floor 48.1-41.6% and from three 45.5-0%, while outrebounding 39-26. The Jaguars committed less turnovers with 9 to the V-Hawks 21.

The V-Hawks return to action Tuesday, December 3, as they host Martin Luther in a non-conference matchup.
