V-Hawks Set to Host First-Round NSAA Tournament Game

BISMARK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association has officially released the seedings for the 2024 NSAA Women's Basketball Postseason Tournament. Viterbo earned the #4 seed and the right to host an opening round game, hosting Bellevue (Neb.) on February 21 at 7 PM.  

Mayville State (ND) and Dakota State shared the regular season title, each going 11-1 and taking a game against the other. Mayville won a coin toss to clinch the #1 seed and a first round bye.

Dakota State will be the #2 seed, and host #7 Waldorf (Iowa), who went 1-11 in the conference.

The #3 seed belongs to Valley City State (ND) after going 7-5, while the #6 seed went to Dickinson State (ND) at 2-10.

The V-Hawks 6-6 conference record clinched the #4 seed, while Bellevue took the #5 seed at 4-8. The winner of the game will advance to face the top-seed Mayville State on Sunday, Feb. 25.

The other semifinals on Sunday, Feb. 25 will be the winners of DiSU-VCSU and WU-DaSU at the higher seed.

The North Star Athletic Association women's basketball postseason championship game will be held on Sunday, March 3 at the highest remaining seed.

The game times will be announced after each round.

The NSAA postseason tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament's opening round.  The national tournament four-teams pod first and second rounds are scheduled for March 15-16.

The winners of the NAIA's opening round will advance to the final site at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. on March 21-26.
