Women's Basketball remains perfect in conference play

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo Women's Basketball game improved to 3-0 in North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) play after defeating Dickinson State 73-64 on Saturday at home.

The V-Hawks got the early 14-5 jump and ended the first quarter leading 21-14. However, the Blue Hawks went on a 9-4 run to tie things up at 25 halfway through the second quarter. Dickinson State took the lead but an Emma Wagner three-pointer tied things back up. Wagner sunk two free throws and Kaitlyn Kennedy made a last-second layup to send the V-Hawks into the locker room leading 36-32 at the half.

Viterbo came out hot after halftime, going on a 13-0 scoring run, kicked off by an Emily McCurdy layup. Despite the Blue Hawks' best efforts to reclaim the lead, they were never able to put the game within four points in the second half, leading to the Viterbo win.

Kennedy led the way offensively with 17 total points. Wagner came off the bench and tallied 14 points of her own. Kacie Gross had another double-digit day after scoring 11 points and Chyna Young followed just behind with nine points and shared a team-high five rebounds with Nicole Johnson

Next up the V-Hawks will travel to Bellevue on Friday, January 21 for a 5:30 pm CST matchup. Follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
