Two big quarters lead to Women's Basketball win at Martin Luther

NEW ULM, Minn. - The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team traveled to Martin Luther College for a Thursday night matchup. The V-Hawks defeated Martin Luther, 80-52. The Viterbo women outscored the Knights 19-9 in the second quarter and 27-7 in the fourth. Those two big quarters of play helped the V-Hawks to secure the victory. 

Freshman Emily McCurdy led the V-Hawks in points with 19 and nearly had a double-double, tallying nine rebounds as well. Brook Becker scored 12 points and three V-Hawks, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Julia Salmen, and Chyna Young, all scored 11 points. Nicole Johnson had eight points, eight rebounds, and five blocks in the match. 

As a team, Viterbo shot 42.2 percent from the field compared to Martin Luther's 29.5 percent, respectively. Viterbo was able to convert 30 points off turnovers and 46 points in the paint. The Viterbo bench came up big in the night, recording 49 bench points. 

The V-Hawks (4-3) will travel to Forest City, Iowa for a competition against Waldorf on Saturday, December 4. The game is set for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off. Follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
