Five V-Hawks score double digits in dominating 93-58 victory

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team faced Florida National University (FNU) at home in their first game of the Gundersen Hotel and Suites Viterbo Women's Basketball Classic on Friday afternoon. The V-Hawks defeated Florida National, 93-58. 

The big quarter for the V-Hawks was the second when they outscored FNU 33-3, going into the locker room up 50-13. Viterbo shot an astounding 68.8 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from behind the arc, and 85.7 percent from the charity stripe in that quarter to gain the halftime lead. Despite being outscored in the third quarter and matching points with FNU in the fourth, the V-Hawks still got the win. 

Viterbo showed their ability to spread their talents, with five different V-Hawks scoring in double digits and 14 of the women's basketball players recording minutes in the game. Kaitlyn Kennedy led the way offensively, scoring 13 points. Sophie Leinfelder and Nicole Johnson were right behind her with 12 points, followed by Kacie Gross and Emma Wagner with ten. 

In the game, Viterbo shot 55.9 percent from the field and tallied an impressive 44 bench points. Their largest lead (43 points) came early in the third quarter. They had 38 points in the paint, compared to Florida National's four, respectively.
