By Katie Frohmader, Athletics Communications Intern

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Women's Basketball Team (7-6) took the court at R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium for their final regular season home game on Saturday against the Dickinson State Blue Hawks (8-9). Before the game, the V-Hawks honored senior Ambree Schlosser (Sr. - Eau Galle, Wis.) for contributions to the program throughout her four years.

The V-Hawks played a close first quarter, trailing by three after the first 10 minutes. Viterbo was able to tie the Blue Hawks three times in the second quarter, the final time being a long three by Schlosser, closing out the half tied at 32. The two teams stayed locked in throughout the third quarter. Calette Lockington (Fr. - Sparta, Wis.) hit a turn around jumper at the buzzer to put the V-Hawks up 44-42 with one quarter to go.

The battle continued in the fourth, but the V-Hawks were able to gain some momentum in the final minutes. Back-to-back three pointers from Kacie Gross (Jr. - Helena, Mont.) and Schlosser made it 61-54, V-Hawks, and was the largest lead of the game. The Blue Hawks did not let their guard down however, hitting three consecutive shots to tie up the game at 62 and send the game into overtime.

The V-Hawks came out hot in overtime, hitting two big threes to put them up 69-62 with 2:25 left. Their momentum carried them the rest of the way as scrappy defense and solid free-throw shooting sealed the deal, 77-64.

Four V-Hawks scored in double-digits, led by Schlosser with her season-high 17 points. Gross and Madison Lindauer (So. - Tomah, Wis.) contributed 13 points, while Kaitlyn Kennedy (So. - Holmen, Wis.) added 12.

The Viterbo Women's Basketball team will be back in action on Friday at Mayville State University (11-5). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
