V-Hawk women's basketball edges Valley City 74-70

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team (5-6) defeated the Valley City State University Vikings () 74-70 at home on Friday night.

The V-Hawk women came out strong, going on a 7-0 run on to give them the early 12-5 lead. The V-Hawks produced 20 bench points in the first half alone. Viterbo went into the locker room up 33-27 at halftime.

The Viterbo defense came up big, collecting 12 steals and 24 points off turnovers throughout the game. The V-Hawk defense also didn't allow a Valley City made three-point shot until the fourth quarter. The Viterbo offense also came up big in the final minutes, sinking 17 of their 20 free throws to shoot 85 percent on the night.

Allie Wojtysiak (So. – Cloquet, Minn.) led the way in points for Viterbo with 10. Madison Lindauer (So. – Tomah, Wis.), Kaitlyn Kennedy (So. – Holmen, Wis.), and Sydney Koch (Jr. – Oconto, Wis.), each finished just behind with 9 points.

The Viterbo Women's Basketball team (6-6) will face Dickinson State University tomorrow at home for Senior Day. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
