Women's Basketball defeats Waldorf, 60-52

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team (5-5) defeated the Waldorf University Warriors, 60-52 at R.W Beggs Sr. Gymnasium on Tuesday. The V-Hawks led the Warriors throughout the game, with their largest lead being by 19 points at the end of the first half.

Emma Wagner (Fr. - Reedsville, Wis.) advanced the V-Hawks to a 17-point lead with a three-point shot with 2:24 to go in second quarter. Nicole Johnson (Fr. - Mineral Point, Wis.) sealed the deal with a jumper to end the first half with the largest lead of the game.

The Warriors cut the lead to only six by the end of the third quarter. Early in the fourth quarter Madison Lindauer (So. - Tomah, Wis.) made a crucial layup to put them back up by five. Two free-throws by Kaitlyn Kennedy (So. - Holmen, Wis.) with 13 seconds to go in the fourth quarter lifted the V-Hawks to an eight-point lead to close out the game.

Lindauer led the V-Hawks with 14 points, adding five rebounds and four steals. Kennedy contributed nine points and four rebounds. Viterbo shot 27.8% from the field and 29.2% from behind the arc.

The Women's Basketball team (5-5) will travel to Madison, S.D. to face Dakota State University (14-3) at 5:30 PM CT on Friday. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
