LA CROSSE, Wis. – There truly is no place like home. The Viterbo Women's Basketball team (1-2) took the court at R.W. Beggs Gymnasium Friday night for the first time since November 10. After a pause on athletics and a tough road loss, the V-Hawk women defeated the Presentation College Saints, 74-59.
The V-Hawks outscored the Saints in every quarter, pulling away from them in the 4th to extend the lead at the end. Viterbo was able to score when it mattered, going 19-23 from the free-throw line. The V-Hawks also sank 13 threes in the game and held Presentation to only two shots made from behind the arc.
Kaitlyn Kennedy (So. - Holmen, Wis.) led the way for Viterbo with 17 points, including five of the teams' three-point shots. Madison Lindauer (So. - Tomah, Wis.) ended the night with 12 points, seven of which came from the free-throw line. Allie Wojtysiak (So. - Cloquet, Minn.) had an impressive game all around, scoring 11 points and tallying six rebounds and two steals. Justyne Burgess (Jr. - Bloomer, Wis.) came away with a team-high six assists.
The Viterbo Women's Basketball team (2-2) will remain home on Saturday to face Mayville State University (7-1). Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
