LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team (0-0) opened their season against Culver-Stockton College at the Varsity Athletics Center on Tuesday night. The V-Hawks defeated Culver-Stockton 64-54.
Viterbo came out of the gate swinging, leading by as much as seven early in the first quarter. The V-Hawks were able to maintain that lead to go into the locker room at halftime up 36-28. Culver-Stockton made things interesting early in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough to stop Viterbo from getting the win.
Ambree Schlosser (Sr. - Eau Galle, Wis.) led the way on offense for the V-Hawks with 12 points on the night. Allie Wojtysiak (So. - Cloquet, Minn.) was close behind with 11 points, along with eight rebounds. The V-Hawks bench made a huge impact on the game, claiming 28 of the teams' points. Emma Wagner (Fr. - Reedsville, Wis.) made an impact off the bench with 10 points. On defense, Viterbo compiled 30 rebounds and five steals, with 11 points off turnovers.
The V-Hawks (1-0) will travel to Saint Paul, Minn. on Saturday, November 14, to face the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. The game is set for a 2:00 p.m. CST start. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
