LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo Softball team took on the Waldorf University Warriors in a double-header at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletic Complex this Wednesday. The V-Hawks beat the rain but couldn't beat the Warriors falling 5-9 in game one and 0-9 in game two.
In game one, both teams had a slow start with the Warriors scoring 2 runs in the first inning and the V-Hawks scoring their first run in the fourth inning. Viterbo had one run and Waldorf had 2 runs going into the sixth inning. The Warriors stretched their lead in the sixth inning scoring 7 runs and allowing only 1 run for the V-Hawks. Entering the seventh inning Viterbo outscored Waldorf 3-0 but it wasn't enough to take home the win. Brittney Slocum left a good impression on field contributing a double, 2 home runs, and 4 RBIs for the V-Hawks.
In game two, Viterbo struggled to get on the board. Waldorf scored 7 of their 9 total runs in the third inning and went on to score one in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth inning. Game two ended in five total innings and left the V-Hawks with a record of 4-30 for the season.
The Viterbo Softball team will head to Waldorf University Thursday, April 21st to complete a makeup double-header from April 6th starting at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM CDT. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
