V-Hawk bats come alive in back-to-back wins over Martin Luther

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Softball team had their first home games of the season on Tuesday evening against Martin Luther College. The V-Hawks swept the double header with big offensive games. 

Game 1: MLC - 1, Viterbo - 9

  • The V-Hawks collected nine runs, scoring in all but one inning.
  • Brittney Slocum and Morgan James each hit two home runs; Haleigh Zanoni hit a two-run homerun as well.
  • Slocum and James both collected their first homers in the bottom of the first inning to build a 3-0 Viterbo lead.
  • James collected four of the V-Hawks nine RBIs.
  • Delaney Ryan pitched all five innings, allowing only one run with six strikouts.

Game 2: MLC - 11, Viterbo - 12

  • The V-Hawks began the game by scoring multiple runs in each of the first four innings.
  • Five players on Viterbo had multiple-hit games.
  • James led the V-Hawks with four RBIs, followed by Slocum with three.
  • The Knights outhit Viterbo, but the V-Hawk offense was too much for MLC to overcome.
  • Ella Driebel pitched six innings and struck out six batters.
  • Delaney Ryan came on in relief, allowing one hit and no runs in her one inning of work.

The Viterbo Softball team will be back at home on Saturday to face NSAA opponent, Dickinson State University. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM CDT. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
