Viterbo Softball splits pair with the Devils in Arizona

TUSCON, Ari. - The Viterbo University Softball team faced Dickinson College in their last double-header at their annual "spring training" games in Arizona. The V-Hawks fought hard and came out on top in game one with a final score of 11-5 in seven innings. Viterbo battled in the second game but fell short scoring 6-9 in seven innings.

In game one the Devils got ahead 2-0 in the top of the second inning but the V-Hawks answered back with RBI's from Brittney Slocum, Channing Manske, Liz Klitzman, Morgan James, and Maddie Wilkey to put Viterbo on top 7-2. The V-Hawks defense was unmatched with James contributing a double play and holding the Devils at 2 points through the fifth inning. After a couple key bunts from Casey Delphey and Jacky Mathews the Viterbo V-Hawks win it 11-5.

In game two Dickinson got ahead 3-2 in the top of the third inning. Slocum helped the V-Hawks with a double followed by Klitzman with an RBI. Viterbo led 4-3 through the top of the fifth inning but couldn't hold on to the lead with the Devils closing out the game and taking the win.

The Viterbo Softball team will travel back home to take on the Cardinal Stritch Wolves in a double-header on Thursday, March 24th at 2:00PM and 4:00PM. Follow the action at viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
