Men’s Cross Country Picked to Finish Fourth

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Cross Country team has been picked to finish fourth in the North Star Athletic Association this season in the annual preseason coach's poll, the league announced on Monday.

The V-Hawks, who earned 19 point sin the poll, will return the conference Runner of the Year and All-Conference performer Drake Ingold. Viterbo finished fourth at least year's conference meet.

Dakota State (S.D.) was unanimously picked to take the top spot in conference this year, after capturing their fourth straight conference title last year. Dickinson State (N.D.) came in second with 29 points. Bellevue (Neb.) edged out Viterbo for third with 22 points, Valley City State (N.D.) was fifth with 13, and Waldorf (Iowa) was voted sixth with seven.

Head Coach Don Fritsch and the V-Hawks begin their season at the Luther All-American Invitational on Saturday, September 10.

Dickinson State will be host for this year's North Star Athletic Association conference meet on Friday, Nov. 4.  The league cross-country championships take place at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson, N.D.

The team winner of the conference meet will represent the North Star Athletic Association in the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. on Nov. 18.
