Bio

Luke grew up in the Wisconsin Northwoods and loves spending his free time being active in sports. He spent a lot of time around volleyball with his parents who played, coached, and officiated. But with limited opportunities for organized volleyball in the area, he played football, basketball, and baseball, earning all-conference honors in football and basketball. Looking to continue his athletic career, he went to Carroll College to play football and basketball. During his junior year, he left school to join the military.

When he went back to school, McEldowney studied human performance and try to figure out how he could help people work to be their best. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2017 and earned a master's degree in Sport Performance and Psychology from the University of Western States in 2019.

McEldowney had done a lot of volunteer coaching, so he saw a great opportunity to continue being involved in sports. He also started taking volleyball more seriously and competed in leagues and tournaments whenever he could. When he left school to join the military, he lived in California and Virginia where he competed in indoor and on the beach.

He worked with the Oregon State women's volleyball team in 2016-2017 and started as the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at UW-La Crosse in 2019.

McEldowney is a Master Resilience Trainer and travels around the country speaking to groups about resilience, mental health, leadership, gratitude, and other topics.

Luke lives in Onalaska with his wife (Angela), two boys (Theo and Archie), and dog (Sydney). He plans to begin working on his Ph.D. at Viterbo in fall 2020.
