Tigers Best V-Hawks
Miami Gardens, Fla. – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team was outmatched on day two by The Campbellsville University 3-1 (25-18, 30-28, 25-20, 25-19). The V-Hawks sink to 2-17 (CCAC 0-3), while the Tigers rise to 11-5.
Ending a six point run by the Tigers, Riley Connor would smack down a kill followed by two kills by Alex Kratzenstein. At the net Justin Kratzenstein and Logan Amdur would put up a block before Noah Diedrich would serve up an ace. Off a four point run Ethan Davis would make a kill and two aces off the serve before the CU would take set one.
Styrk Myhre and A. Kratzenstein would open set two with a block, A. Kratzenstein carrying momentum with two kills to back up the block. The V-Hawks rotating setters would put Amdur at the net for the kill, Roman Rzeszutko also setting up Davis for back to back kills. Myhre posting another block before J. Kratzenstein would take back to back kills along side an A. Kratzenstein kill.
The V-Hawks looking to claim a set would take three points for the narrow lead early, J. Kratzenstein would the next two Viterbo kills. Davis at the net would put up a series of kills supported by a block, before Amdur would take back to back kills from Max Dugan and Rzeszutko. The V-Hawks with the lead would claim an ace off an Amdur service and a kill by Myhre before A. Kratzenstein would take the set winning attack.
Davis leaving no time to rest would take a quick kill from Amdur, A. Kratzenstein take two sets for kills. The V-Hawks starting to trail behind would put Myhre at the net for a block before the Tigers would return a block on the next rally. Connors finding the sweet spot one last time before the match was over.
Davis and A. Kratzenstein led the V-Hawks with 16 kills each, Amdur set up 29 assists, and Dugan with 14 digs.
The V-Hawks return to action Monday March 10 for an exhibition at Barry University.
