LA CROSSE, Wis – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team swept Clarke University in their home season opener Wednesday evening (25-22, 25-12, 28-26). The V-Hawks rise to 1-1 on the season while the Pride fall to 0-1.
The V-Hawks opened the match with a five point run lead by Riley Connors with a series of kills from Logan Amdur. On a block by Alex Kratzenstein and Jack Peroz the V-Hawks would charge ahead with a second five point run in the first set.
Volleying for the lead would capitalized on Daxton Marschall's service with an ace and a block by the Kratzenstein-Peroz duo. Midway through the set Amdur would set up Styrk Myhre for the kill followed by a five point run by Viterbo with a Kratzenstein kill and Peroz with the attack off the reception.
Ethan Davis would open the third set for the V-Hawks with a kill set up by Max Dugan. After losing the narrow lead Amdur would sneak by an attack with a kill before Davis would bring down the final kill of the match.
Myhre led the V-Hawks with nine kills, while Amdur set up 30 assists and Dugan took six digs. Justin Hernandez led the Pride with nine kills.
The V-Hawks return to action Saturday February 1 at Dordt.
