Eagles Overpower V-Hawks

ELGIN, Ill. – The Viterbo University Men's Volleyball team dropped a CCAC matchup to Judson University (Ill.), 0-3 (15-25, 20-25, 21-25). The V-Hawks drop to 11-15 (2-6 CCAC) on the year, while the Eagles improve to 16-9 (5-3 CCAC).

Alex Kratzenstein started the match with a kill for the V-Hawks, but despite two kills from Guven Gedikoglu, Judson pulled away for a 7-14 lead. SJ Nelson got the V-Hawks back on the board, followed by kills from Gedikoglu and Ethan Davis, but Judson took the first, 25-15.

Nelson and Davis fueled the V-Hawks offense early, but JU still took the lead, 15-10. Gedikoglu's kill and Davis' solo block were not enough for Viterbo steadied the scoring for Viterbo, and Kratzenstein added a late kill, but the Eagles still took the second, 25-20.

Nelson and Dane Kerkman contributed the early kills for VU in the third, and back-to-back Kerkman aces gave Viterbo an 11-9 lead. Davis added an ace of his own, along with a Gedikoglu kill and Kerkman solo block, but Judson used a 5-0 run to end the match, 25-21.

Kratzenstein hit .750 for the V-Hawks with six kills. Juan Banda dished 16 assists, and Dugan contributed 12 digs. Grant Shipley had 11 kills on .625 hitting for the Eagles.

Viterbo returns to action on Saturday, April 6 with matches against #7 Saint Xavier (Ill.) and Cornerstone University (Mich.).
