Nonn Leads Sweep Over the Sabercats

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Volleyball team earned a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-13, 25-23) at Maranatha Baptist University on Monday. The V-Hawks improve to 6-13 (3-6 CCAC) while the Sabercats fall to 0-27.

Alex Kratzenstein recorded the first two points of the first set with a pair of kills, and setter Logan Amdur shared the ball as Jacob Nonn, Joe Todd, Juan Banda and Kou Her all had kills of their own to go up 11-4. Daxton Marschall recorded a service ace, and Her had two straight of his own before Banda's kill brought the score to 21-12. The Sabercats had a short run to bring the score to 22-18, but straight kills by Her, Nonn, and Banda ended the set in Viterbo's favor.

Todd started the second set with a pair of aces, and Garran Wilming and Justin Krazenstein each put down kills to help the V-Hawks jump pout to an early 13-3 lead. It was then Nonn's turn to record multiple aces, and after a late Todd kill, MBU errors ended the set in a V-Hawk win.

Nonn and Wilming's kills helped VU take an early 9-5 lead in the third, but the Sabercats would not lie down, and took an 11-13 lead. The teams traded errors, leading to a 16-17 Maranatha lead, but Nonn took over late with five kills to put the V-Hawks back in control before Todd's kill ended the match.

Nonn led all players with 17 kills on absurd .640 hitting percentage, while also posting game-highs of nine digs, and three aces. Amdur had 22 assists and J. Kratzenstein and Wilming each had a block. Tyler Lacock had five kills and three blocks for MBU.

The V-Hawks return to action on Thursday, March 9 at St. Ambrose University.
