Men's Volleyball battles but comes up short on Senior Day

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Volleyball team (10-6) went 0-2 in Saturday's triangular match against Trinity Christian College and Dordt University at R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium. The V-Hawks played both teams tough but were unable to come up with a set victory on the day. Prior to their first match, four seniors were honored for their contributions to the program, including being members of the inaugural men's volleyball team four years ago. The four seniors honored included Andy Roungtakoun, Jacob Nonn, Andrew Lepage, and Derek Myers.

Game one (TCC – 3, VU – 0):

  • The V-Hawks battled in all three sets, with two being decided in extra points.
  • Trinity Christian earned 17 or more of their points on kills in each of the three sets, hitting .288 for the match.
  • Viterbo could not stop Trinity's Alex Costa, who collected 29 kills himself.
  • The V-Hawks fell behind scores of 29-27, 25-20, and 28-26.

Game two (DU – 3, VU – 0):

  • Set three was all Dordt, as the V-Hawks were only able to collect five kills on 24 swings, hitting .000 for the set. The mustered up enough points to keep it interesting, but eventually fell the the Defenders.

  • Nonn led with 12 kills, Lepage dished out 31 assists, and Roungtakoun led the back court with 10 digs.
