
Men's Volleyball serves up their tenth win of the season against St. Ambrose
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Volleyball team (10-4) improved to .500 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play tonight with a 3-1 win over St. Ambrose University. The V-Hawks dropped the first set 21-25 before taking the next three 25-22, 25-17, and 25-20.
The two teams finished with similar stat lines as the V-Hawks collected 45 kills, 40 assists, and hit .209 compared to St. Ambrose's 44 kills, 43 assists, and .190 hitting percentage. Both teams also collected nine total blocks, but the V-Hawks won the serve and pass game, acing the Fighting Bees 12 times in the match compared to their four.
Joe Todd collected five aces to lead the team, including back-to-back-to-back aces in set two to tie the game at 20 and give the V-Hawks a chance to win the set. Juan Banda led Viterbo with 14 kills and nine digs, followed by Jacob Nonn with 11 kills. Andrew Lepage collected 35 assists while Dane Kerkman contributed nine total blocks.
The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team will return to R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium on Saturday for a triangular with Trinity Christian College and Dordt University.
