V-Hawks split games in first home triangular

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team (8-3) went 1-1 in their first home triangular of the season. The V-Hawks lost a close five-set match to CCAC opponent Calumet before sweeping non-conference Maranatha Baptist.

Game One:

- The V-Hawks dropped the match behind scores of 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, and 10-15.

  • Both teams brought high-powered offenses, as the V-Hawks hit .300 for the match compared to Calumet's .299 hitting percentage.
  • Calumet won the serve-and-pass game, collecting 11 aces compared to the V-Hawks' three aces.
  • Defensively, the V-Hawks out-blocked Calumet 11-8.5 but Calumet out-dug the V-Hawks 67-42.
  • Calumet had two players with 28 kills each to lead their offense.
  • Jacob Nonn led the V-Hawks with 19 kills, followed by Juan Banda with 15 and Dane Kerkman with eight.
  • Andrew Lepage dished out 47 assists and Andy Roungtakoun led with 11 digs.

Game Two:

  • The V-Hawks swept Maranatha Baptist with consistent play, winning 25-11 in all three sets.
  • Viterbo swung at a very high percentage, hitting .351 for the match.
  • Viterbo's defense held Maranatha Baptist to a -.062 hitting percentage for the match, giving up only 11 kills total for three sets.
  • Juan Banda led the V-Hawks with 15 kills, hitting .652 for the match.
  • Andrew Lepage collected 30 assists and My Tang led with 11 digs.
