
Nonn leads V-Hawks to 3-1 win over Edgewood College
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team (7-2) took down the Edgewood College Eagles in a non-conference match on Thursday night. The V-Hawks won the match 3-1 with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 21-25, and 25-16.
The V-Hawks came out firing on all cylinders in set one, collecting 13 kills with a .321 hitting percentage and holding the Eagles to seven kills and eight errors, -.040. In set two, the V-Hawks had to earn more of their own points, collecting 16 kills for the set. The Eagles fought tough and were only two points away from taking the set before a 4-0, sparked by back-to-back kills by Dane Kerkman, gave the V-Hawks the set.
Edgewood came out strong in set three, taking a 6-2 lead to begin the game. The V-Hawks battled back and tied the game at eight after an Edgewood attack error. After a missed serve, the V-Hawks built and maintained a four-point lead for much of the set. The Eagles were able to storm back, however, and tie the game at 18 before outscoring the V-Hawks 7-3 to close out the set. In set four, Edgewood was again able to get a big lead to begin the set. Down 3-7, the V-Hawks went on a 10-0 run to take the lead, which they would not give up for the remainder of the match.
Jacob Nonn carried the V-Hawks on the night, collecting 23 kills and hitting .487 for the match. Andrew Lepage dished out 39 assists, while Andy Roungtakoun led with 14 digs. The V-Hawks will return to R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium on Saturday as they host their first triangular of the season. The V-Hawks will face Calumet at 1:00 PM CST, followed by Maranatha Baptist at 5:00 PM CST. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
