Men's Volleyball collects first CCAC win with reverse sweep over St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team (3-0) remained undefeated and picked up their first conference win in a thrilling five-set comeback on Thursday night. 

The V-Hawks got out to a slow start, dropping the first two sets behind scores of 25-19 and 25-12 and allowing the fighting bees to hit .280 and .591 in the first two sets, respectively. However, the V-Hawk defense came alive in set three and set the standard for the rest of the comeback. In the final three sets, Viterbo held St. Ambrose to hitting percentages of -.107, .033, and .000, respectively, to seal the reverse sweep. The V-Hawks won the final three sets behind scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 15-11.

Jacob Nonn led the V-Hawks with 15 kills and a team-high two aces. Juan Banda and My Tang followed with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Joe Todd added seven kills, hitting a whopping .545 for the match. Andrew Lepage contributed 43 assists, while Andy Roungtakoun collected 16 digs.

The V-Hawks are now 3-0, their best start in program history, and 1-0 in CCAC play. The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday night to face Maranatha Baptist in Watertown, Wis. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM CST.
