Bio

Michaels enters his second year as the Head Track and Field Coach. In his first year with the V-Hawks the Men’s and Women’s teams combined for 10 Individual Conference Champions, three relay titles (women’s indoor/outdoor 4x800 relay and outdoor 4x100 relay), and 19 All-Conference awards. The program broke over 20 school records, produced 10 National Qualifiers which were the most in program history, and finished with 6 NAIA All-Americans. Both teams broke program records for conference championship points scored and the women’s team finished 2nd outdoors for the first time in school history.

Prior to joining to the V-Hawks staff he was an assistant coach at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota from 2018-2021. During his three years there he coached the sprints, hurdles, and horizontal jump event groups. He coached two NCAA All-Americans, 14 National Qualifiers, and 10 Conference Champions. Additionally, he coached the Men’s 4x200 and 4x100 relays which were the first relays in school history to win conference titles, as well as qualify for the National Championships. Michaels is a 2017 graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota holding a Bachelors of Arts degree in entrepreneurship.

Collegiately, he was a first team All-Minnesota Intercollegiate hurdler, as well as a team captain. He was an All-MIAC Sportsmanship award recipient and also holds the school record in the 200m indoor hurdles. Michaels was a multiple conference champion in the hurdles while competing for La Crosse (Wis.) Central High School. He earned WIAA All-State honors in multiple events, and was also a D1 state champion in the 4x400 relay. Michaels resides in Winona, MN with his wife Alexa, son Kaden, and their three dogs.
