V-Hawks Take Third at Conference, Anderson Named Track Athlete of the Meet
MADISON, SD - The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet came to an end on Friday evening, and Viterbo came in third place with 143 points.
Dakota State took home the team title with 287 points, while Dickinson State was second with 173.
Jalen Anderson was named the NSAA Track Athlete-of-the-Meet, winning the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.41 seconds, the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.53 seconds, and the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 42.95 alongside Nathan Schlough, Brandon Ferguson, and Dominic Marken. He was also on the 4x400 meter relay team with Brayden Bradway, Ben Olson, and Avin Smith that took third with a time of 3:29.15.
Schlough joined Anderson in the 100, taking sixth with a time of 11.01, and the 200, taking eighth at 23.09.
Connor Birdsong claimed a conference title in the 5,000 meter run, recording a time of 16:06.98, and earned a bronze medal in the 1,500, finishing in 4:03.40.
Colin Adams collected a silver medal in the long jump with a leap of 6.82m (22'4.5") and a bronze in the high jump, clearing 1.92m (6'3.5"). Marken joined him in each event, taking fourth in the high jump, matching Amads' high but separated on attempts, and eighth in the long jump (6.17m, 20'3").
The final V-Hawk to medal was Smith in the 400 hurdles, taking third with a time of 58.02 seconds.

Viterbo returns to action on Thursday, May 16 at the UWL Qualifier Meet.
