V-Hawks Compete at Historic Rake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Viterbo University Men's Track and Field team competed at the 114th edition of the historic Drake University (Iowa) Relays this weekend. Five V-Hawks competed over one relay and two individual events.

Gabe Holderby took second place in the Javelin throw with a personal best toss of 59.47m (195'01"). The throw reached NAIA "A" Standard, ranking him 14th in the nation. Following that, Jalen Anderson finished 21st in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.49 seconds, also an "A" Standard time.

Anderson then joined Ben Olson, Avin Smith, and Connor Birdsong in the 1600 sprint medley. The relay is split into 200-200-400-800 meter legs, and the V-Hawks took 12th place, second in their heat, with a time of 3:31.99 seconds. The performance established a new Viterbo record.

The V-Hawks return to action on Friday, May 3 at the University of Dubuque (Iowa) Battle in the Bluffs.
