V-Hawks in Third at Conference Meet, Five Earn All Conference

DICKINSON, ND – The Viterbo University Men's Track and Field Team has begun competition at the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Conference Meet, hosted by Dickinson State University (ND). The V-Hawks currently rank third with 54 team points. The meet started on Wednesday with heptathlon and decathlon.

Dakota State University (SD) currently leads the standings with 112 points. The top eight finishers in each event scores points for their team.

The top-three finishers in each individual event and top two relay teams earn All-Conference honors.

Four V-Hawks earned gold medals on Thursday. Gabe Holderby had a javelin throw of 51.93m, claiming the top spot by over four meters. Holderby is the first ever Javelin Conference Champion in school history.  

Justin Moore's triple jump of 14.01m earned the title by over .8 meters. It was his first time triple jumping in his career, and recorded the 2nd best mark in Vitebro history. 

Nicholas Vollmar secured the pole vault crown after clearing 3.85m, and Jalen Anderson's time of 14.94 in the 110 meter hurdles earned him first place.

Greg Jenkins was the final V-Hawk to earn All-NSAA, finishing third in the triple jump at 13.10m

The V-Hawks' 4x800 meter relay team of Garrett Eick, Andrew Kaja, Tanner Groshek, and Ben Fleuchaus finished fourth place. Fleuchaus also finished seventh in the 10,000, and Nicholas Vollmar was the final scorer, taking eighth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.82.

The conference meet will conclude on Friday, May 12, with field events starting at 11:00 am, running events at 1:00 pm, the NSAA Champions of Character Presentation at 2:45 om, and the awards ceremony at 4:50 pm.
