Bio

Coach McKnight is in his second year working with the Viterbo throwers and is excited to support the growth and development of the throws program. Prior to joining the Viterbo squad, McKnight coached the throwing events at Washington University in St. Louis from 2006-2010. While at Wash U., McKnight's throwers broke school records in the men’s and women’s javelin, women’s discus, weight, and hammer. One of his javelin throwers broke the UAA meet record in the javelin and met the Division III National Qualifying mark 3 times. While in St. Louis, McKnight also served as the Head Track and Field Coach at Crossroads College Prep in 2010, qualifying the men’s 4x100 and 4x200 relays for the state meet and an all-state finisher in the women’s 100 and 200m sprint.

As an athlete, McKnight was the USATF (U16) National Champion in in the javelin in 1998, the 1999 and 2000 gold medalist for the state of Pennsylvania and threw in the 1999 IAAF World Youth Championships in Poland. McKnight received a full scholarship to compete as a javelin thrower at Bucknell University, where he qualified for the Junior National USA meet in 2001 and the NCAA East Regional Meet in 2003. McKnight's best collegiate mark in the javelin was 63.17m. 

McKnight also serves as the Director of Counseling Services at Viterbo. Originally from Reedsville, Pennsylvania, he resides in La Crosse with his partner (Kate) and two children.
