V-Hawks Take Fourth at Conference, Anderson Named MVP

BROOKINGS, SD – The Viterbo University Men's Track and Field team took fourth place out of six teams at the NSAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday. The V-Hawks scored 74 team points.

Dakota State (SD) claimed the team title with 296 points.

Jalen Anderson was named the Male Field Athlete of the Meet for scoring the most amount of points, and the Male Meet MVP, voted on by the conference coaches.

Anderson took first in all three of his events, including the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 7.98, a meet and school record that ranks sixth in the NAIA, the 60-meter dash with a mark of 6.85 that also set the school record, and the 200, qualifying for nationals with a time of 21.77.

Darnell Williams joined him on the 60vmeter podium, taking second with a time of 7.09. Nathan Schlough was fifth in the 200 with a mark of 23.06 and Williams was just behind him in sixth at 23.12. Brandon Furguson was fifth in the 60-hurdles, finishing in 8.70 and narrowly beating Avin Smith in sixth at 8.90.

Dominic Marken jumped 6.27m (20'7') in the long jump for fourth, and cleared 1.82m (5'11.5") in the high jump for fifth. Hunter Pickard was the final V-Hawk to score, taking seventh in triple jump with a mark of 12.15m (39'10.5").

Anderson will return to Brookings for the NAIA Indoor National Championship Meet on Feb29-Mar 2.
