Five V-Hawks Earn All-Conference
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) has officially announced their 2024 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and post season awards, and five V-Hawks have been honored by the conference.
The CCAC All-Conference teams and postseason awards were voted on by the league coaches.
Ernesto Ascenzo, Sr., GK – Ascenzo was named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Year, while also collecting his fourth straight All-Conference Selection. He was second in the league with a .829 save percentage, ranked fourth in saves with 68, and fifth in goals against at 14 with a goals against average of .96. This is Ascenzo's second time being named Defensive accolades, his first during the 2022 season as CAC Goalkeeper of the Year.
Nicolas Lopez, Sr., F – Lopez earned his second straight First-Team All-CCAC selection after taking second in goals and overall points in the league. He took 49 shots 30 landing on goal, curating a 61% shot on goal percentage.
Ted Holstein, Fr., D – Holstein made his first appearance on the conference honor roll, as a Second-Team All-Conference honoree. In his first season as a V-Hawk Holstein took five shots, three landing on goal, scoring one goal and supplying one assist on the season.
Manuel Ruiz Merino, So., M – Ruiz earned his first All-CCAC accolade of his career as a Second-Team member by dishing out eight assists on the season ranking third on the conference.
Joaquin Eichhorn, Jr., F – Eichhorn was the final V-Hawk to earn all-conference recognition, making the Second-Team. He totaled six goals off 24 shots, 11 landing on goal and contributing two assists.
The V-Hawks finished the 2024 season 6-6-4, and 5-1-4 in CCAC play. Viterbo made it to the quarterfinals of the CCAC Tournament.
