V-Hawks Claim Another Conference Win

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team came out on top over St. Ambrose University (IA) on Wednesday evening 5-0. The V-Hawks now sit at 5-5-4 (CCAC 4-1-4) while the Fighting Bees sit at 2-9-3 (CCAC 2-6-1).

Ernesto Ascenzo would quickly open the match with a save in the second minute, with another in the 11th, and a third in the 15th, before Aimane Sahraoui would take the first shot on goal of the match for the V-Hawks. The V-Hawks would fight to claim possession before Sebastian Acosta would find Joaquin Eichhorn setting Viterbo up 1-0. In the 34th minute Nicolas Lopez would find the back of the net, from a progression from Ted Holstein and Acosta. Before the half Acosta would take a corner kick to Nicolas Nunez Osorio for a Header that would land wide.

Eichhorn would find the back of the net once again in the 52nd minute coming out from the half, before Conner Erdmann would land a shot on goal, claiming the rebound where he would find Alexis Rangel for the goal. The V-Hawks would find themselves in position to widen the lead, as Nicolas Lopez sets up for a penalty kick, claiming his fourth of the season. In an attempt to come back from behind SAU would look to score once more though Ascenzo would snatch another save.

The V-Hawks took 10 shots with eight landing on goal, while the Fighting Bees took 15 shots four landing on goal. Viterbo goalkeeper Ascenzo recorded four saves on the day.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday November 2nd at home for senior day against Olivet Nazarene.
