Elgin, IL – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team ended 1-1 against Judson University Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks now sit at 2-4-2 (CCAC 1-1-2) while the Eagles sit at 7-3-3 (CCAC 4-0-1).
As both teams settled into the game it wouldn't be until the 11th minute when the first shot would come from the Eagles, as Ernesto Ascenzo would record his first save of the match. In the 19th minute Luca Kallinich would score off of a freekick from Gabriel Trevisan giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Looking to come back quickly Joaquin Eichhorn would record the first shot for Viterbo in the 19th minute placing it wide of the goal. A moment would arise in the 40th minute, as Sebastian Acosta lined a freekick and put it in the back of the net leveling the score at 1-1.
Playing down a player in the second half the V-Hawks started on the defensive end of play as the Eagles continued to shoot. As it stayed tied throughout the half it continued to be a back and forth battle. With 10 seconds left the V-Hawks would look for goal one last time as Manuel Ruiz Merino's shot would be saved by the Eagles goalkeeper. Ascenzo would keep the V-Hawks in the game as he recorded 3 saves in the second half.
The V-Hawks return to the field Wednesday, October 16th as they host Governer's State University.
