Tolls outlast V-Hawks

Palos Heights, Ill. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team fell to the Trinity Christian Trolls on Tuesday afternoon 1-0. The V-Hawks fall to 1-4-1 (CCAC 0-1-1), while the Trolls rise 10-2-0 (CCAC 4-0-0).

The V-Hawks opened the match with a slow start, Johan Hamnstrom with the first shot of the game in the eighth minute landing high. Ernesto Ascenzo would stop the Trolls first attempt at the net with plenty of time left on the clock. Ascenzo would record one more save before the period would end, though the Trolls would collect a goal shortly after, leading 1-0 heading into the half.

Ascenzo would record his third save of the match in the 66th minute as the physicality continued to rise. The V-Hawks would look to take control of the ball led by Santiago Tellez taking the first shot on goal of the match for the V-Hawks. Off his own corner kick Tellez would look to score once again though the Trolls goalkeeper would snag another save. Maxime Lebon on the attack would lead to another shot on goal for VU. In the 87th minute the V-Hawks looked to take to the net one last time of the match.

Three V-Hawks took shots on goal, while Ascenzo led the V-Hawks defense with four saves.

The V-Hawks return to the pitch Saturday, October 5 as they host Holy Cross.
