LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team dominate in their home opener against Waldorf University 12-0 on Wednesday afternoon . The V-Hawks rise to 1-3-0 while the Warriors fall 0-4-1 on the season.
Jayden Wefel's shot on goal would be successful less than five minutes into the match with an assist from Johan Hamnstrom. The V-Hawks carried their momentum following up the first with another goal by Nicolas Nunez Orsorio assisted by Felix Lidenmark putting the V-Hawks up 2-0. Nicolas Lopez took to the back of the net in the 35th minute of the first half. Feeling the energy Lopez would score again on a penalty kick setting the V-Hawks up 4-0. Nunez Osorio took the final opportunity on goal of the half sending VU into the half 5-0 over the Warriors.
The V-Hawks would take to the pitch ready for the second half, Lopez would complete a Hat trick in the 52nd minute from Sebastian Acosta who would run with the goal and score back to back goals of his own at the 60 minute mark. Viterbo would not let up at the net with a series of shots one landing on gal by Mateo Torres. Maxime Lebon's attack on the offense never stopped scoring the final three goals for the V-Hawks ending the match 12-0
The V-Hawks took 18 shots on goal by nine different players, Lopez and Lebon with hat tricks each. Ascenzo recorded one save, while the Warrior's Andrade would have four.
The V-Hawks return to action Saturday, September 21 in an exhibition at UW-Madison.
