NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team lost 3-0 to No. 21 Carleton College (Minn.) Tuesday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 0-3-0 while the Knights rise to 2-0-1.
Carleton took the lead early in the match, on a Blake Jones goal. Nicolas Lopez would work to respond by taking a shot landing high. In the 25th minute Pablo Orrego Zapata would record the V-Hawks first shot on goal of the game. A minute late Nicolas Nunez Osorio would also take a shot on goal giving the Knight goalkeeper a second save of the game.
The V-Hawks would work hard to have back to back blocks against CC, followed by a high shot in the 43rd minute before heading into the half.
Ted Holstein would take the first shot for the V-Hawks within the 44th minute of the second period, landing high. The V-Hawks would take to the offensive once again with back to back shots on goal from Ronmel Alfaro and Nunez Osorio.
Ernesto Ascenzo would have a save against Carleton's Danny Ortiz with 55:15 on the clock. Nunez Osorio would respond with another shot on goal six minutes later. The Knights would once again score in the 78th minute. Alexis Rangel would take the last shot on goal of the game for the V-Hawks.
Nunez Osorio took five shots with four on goal to lead Viterbo. Dylan Stiffler had three for the Knights. Ascenzo (0-3) recorded three saves and Linder (2-0) had eight.
The V-Hawks return to the pitch Wednesday September 11th at home as they face Waldorf.
