Two V-Hawks Earn All-Conference
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) has officially announced their 2023 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and postseason awards, and two V-Hawks have been honored by the conference.
Nicolas Lopez, Jr., F, First-Team All-CCAC – Lopez led the CCAC in goals with 13 in his first season with the V-Hawks despite only playing 14 matches. He added one assist for 27 points, which was second in the CCAC. 50% of his 58 shots landed on goal, and he hit all three of the penalty kicks he attempted.
Ernesto Ascenzo, Sr., GK, Second-Team All-CCAC – This is Ascenzo's second all-conference selection, as he was named to the All-CAC First-Team and the Goalkeeper of the Year in 2022. This year, he recorded 92 saves, second in the conference, with a save % of .748 (3rd), and a Goals Against average of 1.97 in 1676 minutes with five shutouts. He also scored one goal and dished two assists.
The V-Hawks finished the 2023 season 7-6-6, and 4-4-3 in CCAC play, and made it to the quarterfinals of the CCAC Tournament.
