Top-Seeded Tigers Down V-Hawks in CCAC Tournament

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team, ranked #8 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament, fell 2-1 at top-seeded Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Saturday night. The V-Hawks finish the season 7-6-6 (4-4-3 CCAC), while the Tigers improve to 11-3-2 (8-1-2 CCAC).

It would be over 12 minutes into the match before the first shot was taken, an on target attempt by Kurodo Ihara, saved by Ernesto Ascenzo. Nicolas Lopez responded a few minutes later with a n attempt that was saved by Patrick Dye Ihara's second attempt would find the net, however, in the 20 minute for the 1-0 advantage. Ascenzo would save two more attempts through the remainder of the second half, but the V-Hawks would not land another shot in the period.

Joaquin Eichhorn scored an unassisted goal under a minute into the second half to even the score, but Ihara scored his second goal of the day at 63:00. The V-Hawks only took two more shots for the rest of the match, and the Tigers had only one more on target shot, which was saved.

Eichhorn and Lopez were the only V-Hawks with shots on goal, while Joel Trueb had three on target and Ihara had two goals. Ascenzo recorded five saves, and Dye had one.
