V-Hawks Fall to Knights

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team fell to Carleton College (Minn.) 0-5 on Monday morning. The V-Hawks drop to 1-1-2 on the year while the Knights improve to 3-0-0.

It would take nearly seven minute for the first shot of the game, a wide left attempt by Adam Krakora. Carleton would take their first attempt three minutes later. After the teams traded corner kicks, Conner Erdmann would land the first shot on goa, and Alvaro Iglesias would follow it a couple minutes later at 24:17, but both would be saved by Leo Kugel. In the 31st minute, the Knight had their first attempts land on goal, but Ernesto Ascenzo would save both. Despite a pair of corners for CC, the teams took the 0-0 tie into halftime.

Jonathan Vonderlage broke the tie with a goal in the 52nd minute, and Trevor Jones added on with a penalty kick goal in the 69th minute. The Knights would then take over completely, scoring three more goals in the last 12 minutes while the V-Hawks would only mage one more shot on goal.

Eight different V-Hawks attempted a shot, with four landing on goal. The Knight had a total of 19 shots with seven on goal. Two different players had assists.

The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 6 as they travel to Waldorf University (Iowa).
