V-Hawks Continue Perfect Season Against North Central

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team, receiving votes in this week's NAIA Top 25 Coach's Poll, won a 4-0 shutout over North Central University (Minn.) Wednesday evening at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletic Complex. The V-Hawks improve to 6-0 while the Rams drop to 1-2.

It would only take the V-Hawks :38 second to get on the board, with Matteo Galeotti finding Jacob Battista. Battista would score his second goal of the game in the 18th minute, assisted by Sebastian Acosta's corner kick. Less than a minute later, Sammy Ankaoglu put in an unassisted goal to put Viterbo up 3-0. Polyzois Douvas would close out the first half for the V-Hawks, putting in an Aidan Greer-assisted goal at the 41:52 mark.

Benjamin Hoffman would record the first shot on goal of the second half, but it would be saved by Rams goalie Jerad Buse. Joaquin Eichorn and Aidan Radford would each record two more shots on goal throughout the second half, but neither team would score.

The V-Hawks would outshoot the Rams 27-1, including 8-1 on goal, and Viterbo would take all seven corner kicks in the game. Ernesto Ascenzo (5-0) would record the shut out win with one save, while Jerad Buse had eight saves.

The V-Hawks return to action on Sunday, September 11 at Lawrence University.
