Men's Soccer wins ninth in a row against Bethel University

LA CROSSE, Wis. (viterboathletics.com) - The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team has not lost a game since they tied St. Ambrose in their first game of the season back on August 21. The V-Hawks kept their winning streak alive, defeating Bethel University (Minn.) 3-1 at home on Monday.

Bethel got the early 1-0 lead after a score in the 20th minute off of a breakaway pass. However, the V-Hawks answered only 11 minutes later after Alfie Gyurkovits scored on a pass from Aidan Radford

Not long into the second half, Benian Yao dished a pass into Abdul Samet Ankaoglu, who knocked it in off his head for Viterbo's second goal of the game. In the 81st minute, a Bethel foul led to a Jacob Battista penalty kick. Battista's kick bounced off the goalie's hands and Carlos Tori Colina was waiting to kick it in for Viterbo's third and final goal of the match.

As a team, Viterbo had 19 shots, compared to Bethel's five, respectively. Goalkeeper Ernesto Ascenzo recorded three saves in the game.

The V-Hawks (9-0-1) will remain home for a game on Thursday against Iowa Wesleyan. That game is set for 1:00 p.m CST. Follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
