V-Hawks Shut Out Northwestern in Spring Debut

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Soccer team (10-1) won a hard-fought match against Northwestern College (11-5) on Wednesday evening. This was the V-Hawks first game since October 30, and their only game before they participate in the A.I.I. Tournament next weekend.

Defense was the key to winning the game, as the V-Hawks shut out the Red Raiders 1-0. In the first half, the V-Hawks took five shots compared to Northwestern's six; but, Viterbo goalie Harry Hauserman (FR/London, England) collected four saves, holding the Red Raiders scoreless.

At minute 50:37, Michael Ohana (SR/Nairobi, Kenya) set up Jacob Battista (FR/Melbourne, Australia) for the only goal of the game. The goal was just enough as the V-Hawks were not able to get another shot off the rest of the game. Northwestern had opportunities to tie it, but the V-Hawk defense was strong as Hauserman collected four more saves.

The V-Hawks will be back in action on April 9^th in Lawrenceville, Georgia to participate in the A.I.I. Semifinal match. Game time and opponent are still to be determined. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
