Men's Soccer opens up season with an 8-0 win at home

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University men's soccer team kicked off their season with a statement win over Faith Baptist Bible College at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletics Complex on Saturday. The V-Hawks defeated the Eagles 8-0.

Viterbo spent a lot of time on offense throughout the game, recording 33 total shots with 24 shots on goal. Andrew Weddle (So. – Sun Prairie, Wis.) led the way on offense for the V-Hawks with the first three goals of the game and six total shots on goal. Viterbo played aggressive the whole way through, scoring six of their eight goals within the last 25 minutes of play. Other scorers included Arsenios Dimitrious (Fr. – Limassol, Cyprus), Calvin Brown (Jr. – Marshfield, Wis.), Logan Mitchell (Fr. – Laporte, Minn.), Erik Hernandez (Fr.), and Alfie Gyurkovits (Sr. – Cranage, England).

Defensively, Ernesto Ascenzo (Fr. – Lima, Peru) recorded a shutout in his first start with the V-Hawks. The Viterbo defense was able to limit the Eagles to a total of only one shot on goal.
