V-Hawks Begin Spring Season in Oklahoma

ENID, Okla. – The Viterbo University Men's Golf team began their spring season at the Oakwood Intercollegiate Meet this week, taking 13th out of 16 team with a total score of 956 over three rounds.

Hutchinson CC (Kans.) took home the team title with a score of 876, while Ethan Smooth of Iowa Western CC was the individual champions, shooting one under par at 212, shotting 69 twice.

Owen Bernstorf was the top performer for the V-Hawks, taking 45th out of 87 competitors with a total score of 235 (+22). He shot an 81 in the first round, and improved that to 77 in rounds two and three. 77 was the second best round of any V-Hawk on the weekend.

Ethan Thomas tied for 55th, being 10 strokes behind Bernstorf. He had the best first round for Viterbo, shooting a 78, then recorded an 82 in round two, and back down to 80 in the third round. His total came to 240, 27 strokes to par.

Ben Biskupski and Nick Tennis were one stroke apart from one another, at 241 and 242, respectively. After shotting 83 and 84 in the first two rounds, Biskupski had a fantastic third round, recording a 74, just three swings above par. Tennis was consistent over his three rounds, at 81, 80, and 81.

Andy Odom was the final competitor for the V-Hawks, finishing 79th with a total of 253. After taking an 89 in round one, he improved to 82 in rounds two and three.

The V-Hawks return to action on Friday, April 12 at the Iowa Central CC Invite, played at Fort Dodge Country Club.
