Viterbo Hosts V-Hawk Invitational

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Golf team hosted the V-Hawk Men's Golf Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The V-Hawks finished in third place out of six teams with a team score of 329 after shooting 312 on Day 1 and 317 on Day 2. Kirkwood Community College (Iowa) was the event champions, shooting 596 (300, 296). Kolby Shackelford was the individual champions, posting an even 72 on both days for a total score of 144.

Iowa Central CC came in second at 600 (298, 302), Madison College (B) was fourth at 656 (331, 315), Madison College (A) was fifth with a score of 659 (330, 329), and Clarke University (Iowa) was sixth 661 (332, 329).

Nicholas Tennis was the top performer from Viterbo, finishing tied for sixth out of 47 participants with a score of 151 (74, 77), Brice Kalbunde was tied for 14th at 156 (76, 80), Sam Dobbins shot 79 on Day 1 and 80 on Day 2 for a score of 159 which tied for 22nd, and Owen Bernstorf and Aaron Raabe each tied for 28th with scores of 166. Bernstoef shot an 83 both days, while Raabe shot 86 in round 1 and improved to 80 in round 2.

Of the five V-Hawk individuals that competed, Noah Nelson scored the highest, also at 166 (84, 82), Brett Crary tied for 36th, posting a 169 (82, 87), Andy Odom dropped a stroke from round one to two to finish 38th (86, 85, 171), Gabe Rombalski was 45th at 198 (100, 98), and Matt Werjowski was the final finisher at 224 (115, 109).

The V-Hawks return to the tee box October 17 and 18 for the Whistling Straits Championship.
